Sister taxa: Captorhinus aguti, Captorhinus laticeps, Ectocynodon

Type specimen: OMNH 55387, a limb element (complete right femur). Its type locality is Richards Spur, which is in a Leonard fissure fill claystone/conglomerate in the Garber Formation of Oklahoma.

Ecology: ground dwelling insectivore-herbivore
