Type specimen: YPM 1640, a set of postcrania (femur, ilia, dorsal and sacral vertebrae, partial scapula and coracoid). Its type locality is Elasmosaurus nobilis type locality, 4.8 km west of Jewell City, which is in a Coniacian marine horizon in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.
