Sister taxa: Anhuichelys siaoshihensis, Anhuichelys tsienshanensis

Type specimen: IVPP V 5599, a partial shell (Shell with damaged carapace and complete plastron). Its type locality is Yangxinwu (Qianshan locality 71071), which is in a Paleocene terrestrial horizon in the Doumu Formation of China.
