Type specimen: IVPP 21711, a partial skeleton (a nearly fully articulated partial skeleton with associated feathers preserved on a single slab). Its type locality is Cruralispennia-type locality, which is in a Hauterivian terrestrial horizon in the Huajiying Formation of China.
