Where: Mali (16.7° N, 0.5° E: paleocoordinates 8.6° N, 4.4° W)

When: Teberemt Formation, Paleocene (66.0 - 55.8 Ma)

• Unit 3 - Middle to upper portion of the Teberemt Formation

Environment/lithology: marine; limestone

• Upward fining, retrogradational marine sequence. Increasing water depth is interpreted based on reduction of siliciclastics and increasing purity of carbonates upward through the sequence.
• A 3 m thick chalky, micritic limestone with thin shale partings
