Gypsum mine, ca. 2 km NE Santana do Cariri (Cretaceous of Brazil)

Also known as Araripemys barretoi type locality

Where: Ceará, Brazil (7.2° S, 39.7° W: paleocoordinates 12.2° S, 11.1° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Romualdo Member (Santana Formation), Albian (112.6 - 99.7 Ma)

• The Romualdo Member of the Santana Formation lies between the Crato Member of the Santana Formation (below) and the Exu Formation, which overlies the Santana Formation. Both of the latter horizons are most likely Albian in age. This suggests an Albian age (early Cretaceous, ± 110 mya) for the Romualdo Member of the Santana Formation and for Araripemys (Maisey, 1990, 1991).

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lithology not reported

Size class: macrofossils
