• The author refers to these shales as the Holmia shales, becuase of the presence of the genus Holmia. These beds are said by the author to be Lower Cambrian. AGE: Atdabanian; refined by A. Hendy (6/2009) on the basis of biostratigraphic data.

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal; gray, green, argillaceous shale and coarse-grained sandstone

• grey-green, fine grained argillaceous shale with some layers of coarse, rounded quartz grains.
