• Also known as the Karamayi Formation. Lower part of the formation. The presence of the dicynodont Parakannemeyeria in the Karamayi Formation has been used as evidence for an early Middle Triassic (Anisian) age for this rock unit. The Karamayi Formation is considered a lateral equivalent of the Ermaying Formation of Shanxi Province
