Zone V2a, Ny Friesland (Ordovician of Norway)

Where: Spitsbergen, Norway (79.8° N, 17.8° E: paleocoordinates 79.8° N, 17.8° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Psephosthenaspis nasuta trilobite zone, Olenidsletta Member (Valhallfonna Formation), Billingen (478.6 - 471.8 Ma)

• While collections were made throughout section, only ranges of trilobite species are reported. Zone V2a comprises meters 75-100 of the Olenidsletta Member. Likely correlates with part of "zone J" of Ross 1951, Hintze 1951, 1952.

•This would be Billingen on the Baltic scale (PJW).

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: slope; lithified, gray limestone and lithified, black limestone

• "In this part of the section grey, crystalline limestones with irregular, streaky laminations alternate with even bedded black flags." Fortey 1974

Size class: macrofossils
