Environment/lithology: basinal (siliceous); lithified, cherty/siliceous mudstone

• Manganese band in a siliceous mudstone layer. This band contains manganese carbonate spherules ranging from 0.5 to 2.0 mm in diameter. The band has a lenticular shape with maximum thickness of 20 cm. This band contains manganese carbonate spherules rangin 0.5-2.0mm in diameter from which well preserved radiolarian tests were extracted.
