Sample GP 9 4km south-east of Fluminimaggiore, Iglesiente area, SW Sardinia (Cambrian to of Italy)

Where: Sardinia, Italy (39.4° N, 8.5° E: paleocoordinates 48.1° S, 113.9° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Campo Pisano Formation (Iglesias Group), Caerfai to Caerfai (530.0 - 501.0 Ma)

• Loi et al. 1995 summarized the biostraigraphical data for the Iglesias Group. They introduced a subdivision based on trilobites and graptolites from the latest Early Cambrian up to the Early Ordovician. Following this subdivision, the Campo Pisano Formation spans a biostratigraphic interval from the uppermost Early Cambrian until lower part of Middle Cambrian

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal shelf; wackestone

• The Campo Pisano Formation consists of limestones whcih are generally rich in mud and mostly represented by wackestones. Mudstones and floatstones occur occasionally. Large parts of the limestone succesion show a diagenetic nodular texture.

Preservation: replaced with silica

Collection methods: chemical,

• Illustrated specimens are housed at Geological Institute of the Freiberg University
