Habitat comments: "Five primary cultural deposits or layers (Fig. 2) were identified (numbered IeV),and layers II and IV were subdivided into sub-layers (II-1, II-2, etc.);all produced artefacts and contained features such as simple hearths. Layers I and II were contiguous at the top of the profile; the sub-layers of layer II also were contiguous. Layer II was in most places separated from III by a stratum containing no artefacts or faunal remains..."

Sandy sediment and cobbles/boulders mentioned for nearby layers but layer II is not described.

"The first excavations at Bugul'deika II were conducted by V. V. Altukhov between 1999 and 2004, but remain unpublished. Reported here are materials from the 2006-8 excavations, directed by N.A. Savel'ev, which consist of a 40 m2 trench spanning 10 m east-west, and 3-5 m north-south; the eastern shorter edge of the trench was at the edge of the bank above the shore, and the opposite end inland"
